ASUU Strike: NANS begins mobilization, asks all students to join NLC solidarity protest

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students,NANS, has begun mobilisation of students ahead of the planned solidarity protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress,NLC,billed for July 26 and 27,2022,over the ongoing strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. 

To this end,the students’ body which declared support for the two-day solidarity action with ASUU,has asked all students across the country to prepare to join.

NANS made this known in a statement issued by its president, Comrade Sunday Asefon, in Abuja on Wednesday.

 FG withdraws order to reopen varsities SAMBLOG  Sep 26 The Federal Government, through the National Universities Commission, Monday afternoon, withdrew its circular which ordered vice-chancellors, pro-chancellors and governing councils to re-open federal universities, The PUNCH reports. The PUNCH had exclusively reported earlier that a circular tagged NUC/ES/138/Vol.64/135 was addressed to all vice-chancellors; pro-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities ordering them to re-open universities. But in another circular tagged NUC/ES/138/Vol.64/136, which was also signed by the Director, Finance and Account of the NUC, Sam Onazi, the commission withdrew the order. Though it did not explain why.
